  • After your treatment, the injection can make your gums, tongue and lips feel numb for a few hours. You may find it difficult to talk, eat and drink until the numbness goes away. To protect yourself we advice to avoid hot food and drinks until the anaesthetic has fully worn off.

  • If you have had a silver filling avoid eating on that side of the mouth until the next day. We recommend eating some food and using the other side of the mouth for 3-hours after treatment.

  • If you have had a white filling then you can eat and drink as normal once the injection has worn off.

  • If you are experiencing sensitivity after a feeling, the tooth may be sensitive to pressure or sweet things. This can occur for a few weeks, you should avoid things that cause discomfort. If your tooth is extremely sensitive or your sensitivity does not decrease over about a 2-week period, please contact us to make an appointment.

  • Once the anaesthetic wears off, you may find that the feeling placed interferes with your bite. In some cases, this was settle down over about a 2-week period as your mouth adjust to the new filling. However, if you find out the discomfort worsens over time, this will need to be adjusted please contact us to make an appointment.

  • Your dentist polishes the filling after it is placed, but occasionally sharp edges may remain. If you find one, contact us and arrange to have it adjusted as soon as possible to avoid injury to your tongue or mouth.

  • After your tooth has been removed, it is important to follow some simple instructions to prevent infection and allow the area to heal properly.
